Inclusivity at LSS

Lincoln Square Synagogue is dedicated to providing as inclusive of an experience as possible and making our events accessible to all.
  • The Nathaniel Richman Cohen Sanctuary ‒ named after a beloved member of our Synagogue who used a wheelchair ‒ is completely wheelchair accessible, from the Aron Kodesh to the Bima to the Amud. Wheelchair seating is available and a rear sound circle is meant to enhance sound for those with hearing impairments.
  • We offer the capability of transcription/captions for all of our zoom programming. We hope this helps you to enjoy the many wonderful lectures and programs we offer on zoom. Please note, transcription by rev.com is provided by Artificial Intelligence, not by a live captioner.
  • Sign Language interpreters and braille siddurim are available on request for any and all events by emailing inclusion@lss.org.
  • A private wheelchair accessible bathroom is located on our entrance floor. The doorway is widened for wheelchair access and swings outward to allow for more space inside the bathroom.
  • Our Youth groups and activities are also open to all, regardless of cognitive or physical challenges. Our sensory room is available at each of our events and provides a relaxing yet engaging atmosphere for any child that needs it. Additionally, our events always open half an hour prior to the public opening for children who need a quieter atmosphere as they make their way through a fun filled event. If you’re looking for an inclusive shul look no further than LSS.   Still have questions or concerns? Are you interested in becoming a sponsor so that we can extend this to Shabbat youth groups as well? Have general feedback? Please do not hesitate to reach out to us at youth@lss.org
Do you have suggestions or feedback? please email inclusion@lss.org. Contributions to helping us improve our level of inclusivity are always welcome.
