Motzei Shabbat, January 20th: Resilience in Adversity: A Personal Account from Sderot: 7:30pm:

Join us as LSS welcomes Carmi Tint and Eyal Tarchitzky, members of Dror Israel, a grassroots educational organization. Carmi and Eyal reside in Sderot, less than two miles from the Gaza Strip. On October 7th, Carmi was alone with their then seven-month-old daughter for close to 48 hours in their safe room while Hamas terrorists brutally murdered residents outside their building. Carmi, Eyal, their daughter, along with thousands of displaced Sderot residents, have been residing in a hotel by the Dead Sea for the past four months.

Carmi and Eyal will share their personal story and introduce us to Dror Israel. Dror has an extensive and successful track record in providing emergency response. They currently provide emotional education first aid programs and have set up make-shift schools at over 50 evacuee centers that serve tens of thousands of traumatized children and teenagers who have been displaced from their homes. They will also discuss the impact of the war on Sderot’s neighboring kibbutzim and the region’s agricultural sector.
