Dr. Elana Stein Hain Farewell Kiddush Luncheon

As you know, Dr. Elana Stein Hain is moving on from her tenure at Lincoln Square Synagogue to join the Hartman Institute of North America as its Director of Leadership Education.  As the LSS Community Scholar, Elana has consistently been a beloved teacher, friend and spiritual leader to each one of us, and we will miss her daily presence at LSS.

Of course, our community wants to express its profound gratitude to Elana for her constant teachings, enthusiasm, support and hard work for LSS. We thought the best way to do so would be to honor Elana with a community-wide and community-sponsored Kiddush Luncheon on March 29th - her last Shabbat with us in an official capacity.

Please join us in sponsoring this Kiddush in Elana’s honor. If each one of us contributes - even $18 - it will send a beautiful message of gratitude, and add up to a tremendous thank you to Elana.

We’re aiming for 100% participation from our membership, so please make sure to contribute as soon as possible. Thank you in advance!

 Best wishes,

Jenna Statfeld Harris and Morton Landowne-Chairpersons

Please note that donations the come in after 5pm on Thursday, March 27th will not be printed on the list in time for Shabbat.  A private list will be given to Dr. Stein Hain including the full list of participants that come in after that time

This year, on March 7, 2014 our synagogue will once again participate in the

“Shabbat Across America” program. It’s a dramatic and exciting national program designed to reach

unaffiliated Jews.

“Shabbat Across America ” introduces Jews, many for the first time, to our customs and traditions

at an interactive, Friday night service and Shabbat dinner. It has been an extraordinarily successful

program in communities across the USA and Canada, involving tens-of-thousands of North American

Jews. Our synagogue has always been selected to be a part of this national outreach effort. And

we’re expecting it to be a major success this year in our own community.

Although we do charge participants a nominal fee for this event, the costs greatly exceed the income

we collect. Many of you have been consistent supporters of our Kiruv programs and we turn to you

once again. At this time, however, based on the huge responses we’ve had in the past, we must also

look for new supporters.
