Judith & Daniel Sabba

Judith and Daniel joined LSS in early 2013, just before before their older son Charlie was born. It is hard to believe but his was one of the first strollers to roll into our lobby!

The Sabbas have been active members of the shul, heading committees, serving on the board and adding another little one, Gabriel, to their family. Judith has worked to build and enrich the Young Professionals community at LSS, helping organize countless YP lunches and a wide range of programming. She has also worked on shul-wide events, including Chanukah dinners, Purim celebrations and community events, such as the UWS Yom Ha’atzmaut celebration. Daniel was the Treasurer of the shul for two years and served on the Fundraising Committee for three. Both Judith and Daniel have been on the annual dinner’s Journal Committee, with Daniel serving as the co-chair last year.

Judith and Daniel strive to ensure their community and family lives are balanced with their professional ones. Originally from Brazil, Daniel came to the U.S. to attend Cornell University where he majored in Mathematics and Economics. After graduation, Daniel joined Lehman Brothers’ analyst program in 2007, working on one of its derivative desks. Daniel continued his career at Bank of America Merrill Lynch and Deutsche Bank, focused on macro and cross asset transactions between the firms and their largest hedge fund and family office clients. While training for half-marathons and Olympic distance triathlons, Daniel is also a part-time graduate student in Computer Science at the Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences at NYU.

After graduating from Barnard College, Judith worked as an International Affairs Analyst, at the Anti-Defamation League, analyzing world events, crafting policy and serving as the non-profit’s liaison to the United Nations. After four years, Judith pursued an M.A. degree at Yale in public policy and international relations. Her passion for politics and communications has led to her work for government offices and agencies, on publications at Columbia and Yale and conduct research for think tanks. She currently works at J.P. Morgan, developing strategic communications for the Corporate Investment Bank’s top executives.

The Sabbas are both involved in the young leadership at UJA, enjoy staying active, binge watching episodes of Veep and travelling, even with their two little ones, and all their stuff, in tow. They are so grateful their families’ willingness to travel across the bridge and across the world to spend time with them. But it is Shabbat morning, when their sons rush to get ready for shul, that brings them their greatest joy—seeing their children continually enriched by their time at LSS—no amount of time or effort can express their appreciation to the LSS community for all it has given to them.
