Miriam & Michael Laufer

Miriam and Michael Laufer are “LSS Loyalists” and have earned triple points* for their active involvement and engagement with the Lincoln Square Synagogue (LSS) community.

On any given week-day, Michael's schedule revolves around three places – LSS, work, LSS, home. Unless he is out enjoying a cultural activity, he is easy to track down. And, each Saturday, Michael can be found up on the 'Bima' serving as one of the LSS's Gabbeis. He has been the chair of LSS journal fundraising campaign for many years. Whether Michael is chairing a committee, volunteering as a tutor, or just helping out where needed, he does it with grace and aplomb.

In his time away from the synagogue, Michael utilizes his MBA from Columbia University working in the banking industry as a Senior Compliance and Operations Manager.

Miriam has served on numerous committees, is on the LSS Board of Governors and most recently co-chaired a sold-out and successful seminar on Wine & Cheese pairing for LSS Young Professionals.

She has a passion for matchmaking: especially when it comes to pairing great wine and food.

As VP, Associate Publisher of the globally renowned publication, Wine Spectator, Miriam oversees advertising and integrated marketing programs.

Michael and Miriam’s children– Tova, Jacob, Ben , and Rebecca— have also contributing to the LSS community: serving as youth leaders, Torah readers (ba'al koreh), and food & clothing drive volunteers.

The Laufers are humbled to be honored by LSS, which has long served as an important part of their lives. They look forward to sharing this recognition with their fellow honorees, family, friends, Rabbis, and the LSS community at the upcoming annual celebratory LSS dinner on June 15, 2017.
