The
LSS Women's Tefillah group, probably the oldest in the United States,
has
been in continuous existence since 1972. It holds shabbat services
aproximately
6 times a year, both for shacharit as well as mincha; begining each
year with a gala service on Simchat Torah. This year, for the first
time, it is holding a Megilla reading on Purim morning.
These
tefillot enable women to lead services as chazzanit, baalot kriah....as
well as gabbayot during the course of the shabbat morning or afternoon
prayers. Often there are divrei torah given by the participants
as well. The davening is inspiring and uplifting, adding a very
spiritual dimension to one's shabbat experience.
Many
12 year old girls have chosen to observe their bat mitzvah in this
"kehilat nashim," by leading the teffilot and layning
the parasha and haftorah.
The
LSS Women's Tefillah Group is compiling an email list for notification
of our schedule of services and activities. If you would like to
be on it or participate in an upcoming service, please email your
particulars to LSSWomensTefillah@yahoo.com. (The list is NOT for
women only, just the services!)
