We are excited to announce that, in 2006-7, LSS was one of only six OU member synagogues across the US and Canada that were awarded grants of up to $20,000 apiece to develop innovative programs designed to have a positive impact on synagogue and communal life. Our program is a Lay Leadership Training Program that will provide training in Jewish Communal Life and Synagogue Lay Leadership. (Click this link for LSS Lay Leadership Training program brochure)

The program provided training in Jewish Communal Life and Synagogue Lay Leadership. Modeled on a traditional Masters of Business Administration it was intended to stimulate current communal involvement and generate future communal lay leadership.

In particular, the program provided training in:

  • Critical lay leadership skills (presentation skills, marketing strategy, fund raising, etc.)
  • Jewish communal infrastructure (role of the OU, UJA and other organizations. How they work, what services they provide, where LSS fits in, etc.)
  • Lincoln Square 101 (history, unique features, background to all the programs, endowments, etc.)
