Yoetzet Halacha

Atara Eis

Yoetzet Halacha

LSS is one of nine Manhattan synagogues to have Yoetzet Halacha Atara Eis on staff. Atara will offer monthly programs on a wide array of women's health and halacha topics, and she will assist the synagogue rabbis by advising women on sensitive issues of Taharat Hamishpacha and health. Atara is available to help women find solutions in the realm of women's health and halacha. She is prepared to answer questions on nearly every relevant topic, ranging from "basic" niddah questions, to fertility problems and medical procedures, to sex education for teens.

Atara Eis holds a B.A. from Yeshiva University's Stern College in Judaic Studies and an Associate Degree in Music. She is in the final stages of completing her M.S. from its Azrieli Graduate School for Jewish Education, and completed its Graduate Program in Advanced Talmudic Studies for Women.

While living in Jerusalem and learning at Nishmat's Keren Ariel Institute to become a Yoetzet Halacha, Atara also served on the Midreshet Lindenbaum faculty. She currently teaches Talmud and Tanach at Stern Hebrew High School in Philadelphia, PA. Additionally, Atara works as a Yoetzet Halacha at Kemp Mill Synagogue in Silver Spring, MD.

Atara and her husband Rabbi Rafi Eis are the proud parents of Ahuva, Yechezkel and Ephraim.
